Orillia’s next municipal election is run by the City Clerk, not by this campaign. Here is the practical version, with the official sources at the bottom of the page.
The five things worth knowing.
Election day is Monday, October 26, 2026. Advance voting days are scheduled by the City Clerk before that, so if the Monday does not work for you, plan on an advance day instead. Confirm the current dates and hours at orillia.ca.
In person, at the polling locations the City designates for election day and for the advance days. You vote in Ward 3 if you are resident in Ward 3 or have a business in Ward 3. If you are not sure which ward you are in, the City can confirm it for you.
One mayor, elected across the whole city. Two city councillors for your ward, so you mark two names in the Ward 3 section. And school board trustees, English and French. Council serves a four year term.
Identification showing your name and your qualifying Orillia address. An Ontario driver’s licence, an Ontario photo health card, a utility bill, a mortgage statement, a lease or rental agreement, or a bank or credit card statement all appear on the City’s accepted list. The full list is in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing voters’ guide for 2026.
Being missing from the voters’ list does not disqualify you. Confirm or update your information through the Elections Ontario voter registration service, and contact the City Clerk’s office at 705 325 1311 or elections@orillia.ca about being added or corrected for this election.
Can you vote in this election?
Municipal voting rules in Ontario are broader than many people assume. You do not need to own property, and you do not need to have voted before. If you rent in Orillia, you vote here. If you are new to the city this year, you vote here.
For Ward 3: the people voting have to be resident in Ward 3 or have businesses in Ward 3. Those are the ballots the two Ward 3 council seats appear on.
If you are unsure about your own situation, the City Clerk’s office will tell you plainly, and so will we.
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are a Canadian citizen
- You live in Orillia, or you own or rent property here, or you are the spouse of someone who does
- For the Ward 3 council seats: you are resident in Ward 3, or you have a business in Ward 3
- You are not prohibited from voting under the law
